Ali Forde making quick recovery

September 13th, 2010

I spoke this morning with Ali Forde’s mother, Tracey, who wanted to clarify the nature of Ali’s knee surgery and update her status.

Ali, a 6-foot-1 junior at Woodinville and one of the state’s best three-sport athletes, had surgery Sept. 2 to repair a minor miniscus tear in her right knee. There was no ligament damage.

Ali should be ready to play for Woodinville’s fourth-ranked volleyball team next week, according to Tracey. Apparently, the injury occurred in June but was not detected in the original MRI. She was told she might just have an irritated knee cap and went through physical therapy.

Ali wound up playing more volleyball and basketball during the summer and when her knee was still sore, she went in for another MRI, which showed the slight tear.

Ali already has a basketball scholarship offer from the University of Hawaii and is receiving interest from numerous schools for both volleyball and basketball, her mother said. She also competes in track and field (qualified for state in the shot put) and was named The Seattle Times’ female athlete of the year last spring.

What’s this?
